The life of Maixent Veillon
Biography
Maixent Veillon and Bernarde Venet were the parents of Sébastienne Veillon, from Verdille in what is now the Charente department of western France. Their names survive in the origin account associated with their daughter's marriage at La Rochelle, on France’s Atlantic coast.
Sébastienne and Mathieu Choret made a marriage contract before the notary Pierre Teuleron on February 26, 1647. Their wedding followed on March 4. Mathieu had already been in New France, where his origin dossier describes him as a servant of the Jesuits.
