Biography

Jeanne Vannier's family is traced in the Saint-Vivien records at Rouen, on the Seine River in Normandy, northern France. The Lemire dictionary identifies her baptism on July 2, 1600, names her parents as Jean and Florence, and describes her as the twin sister of Alain Vannier. These are the compiler's identifications of her French family.

With Mathurin Lemire she had children baptized in the same parish. In Jean's surviving baptism entry, her name appears in the form Janne Vanier. A later Canadian record associated with his 1653 marriage uses Jeanne Vannier.
