The life of Catherine Labrecque
Biography
Catherine Labrecque married Abraham Fiset in Dieppe, a port on the English Channel coast of Normandy, France, in 1633. Their first recorded daughter shared her name. The girl lived three years, dying in November 1636 and being buried the next day. Their son François-Abraham was then still a small child.
More children followed. François was baptized in 1637; Jean's baptism in 1639 records Abraham as already dead. Catherine therefore appears in the family record as a widow while her children were young. Fichier Origine identifies her father as Jean Labrecque.
François-Abraham eventually established his own family in New France with Denise Savard. Catherine’s later whereabouts and death date are unknown.
