The life of Renee Loger / Armange
Biography
Renée Loger was the mother of the twin girls Jacqueline and Renée baptized at La Trinité in Angers, in the Loire Valley of western France, in January 1635. Both appear in the same parish record with their father, René Freslon. One daughter shared her mother's given name.
When Jacqueline married in Canada in 1663, her mother was recorded as Renée Armange. Fichier Origine preserves that form alongside Loger, the name associated with the French baptisms. The two records connect Jacqueline's French family with her later Canadian household while leaving a question about how her mother's surname changed in transmission.
