The life of Jacques Jolivet
Biography
Jacques Jolivet and Nicole Bouvillonne were the parents of the man later known in Québec as Aimé Jolivet. The Fichier Origine account reproduced by MesAïeux identifies that son’s baptismal name as Jacques, explaining a potentially confusing repetition between father and son.
The account places the younger Jacques’s first marriage at Jargeau, on the Loire River near Orléans in France, in January 1680 and describes his parents as already deceased. It also identifies a daughter, Françoise, who married there in 1685. These notices preserve a French family before Aimé’s Canadian records begin.
