Biography

Jean Hayot, also recorded as Ayot, was captured at Cap-Rouge in August 1658. The source-cited family account describes his escape through persuasion. He was the son of Thomas Hayot and Jeanne Boucher and the husband of Louise Pelletier.

Later, he left on a three-year trading journey toward Ottawa country. In April 1670, Louise petitioned the Conseil Souverain, reporting that she had been left with five children and no resources.
