Biography
Marguerite Deshaies was the wife of Jacques Lamain and mother of Marguerite Lamain. Her daughter’s Québec marriage record preserves her name as Marguerite Des Haies and connects the parents with Saint-Vivien in Rouen, on the Seine River in Normandy, northern France.
The daughter’s marriage agreement provides a glimpse of the family’s continuation overseas. It protected part of her property for her own family line, alongside the property placed in the new marital community.
