The life of Etienne Boyer
Biography
Étienne Boyer appears in French research under the spelling Estienne Bouhier. With Perrine Payneau, he was the father of Nicolas, baptized at Le Poiré-sur-Velluire, in the present-day Vendée department of western France, in 1637. A research dossier drawing on the Vendée archives also identifies daughters Marie and Jeanne in that parish’s baptismal records.
The dossier reports that Étienne was already dead when Nicolas made his marriage contract in July 1667. A later research notice tentatively identifies Étienne as a merchant, possibly dealing in livestock.
