The life of François Bourassa (elder)
Biography
François Bourassa and Marguerite Dugas were the parents named when their son, also François, married Marie Leber in 1684. The published marriage extract identifies the groom’s French origin as Saint-Hilaire-de-Loulay, in the diocese of Luçon, in what is now the Vendée department of western France. The repeated first name makes the distinction between father and son essential: the Canadian wedding belongs to the younger François.
