The life of Antoinette / Etiennette Boulay
Biography
Antoinette Boulay entered her marriage to François Garnier as a widow. Fichier Origine identifies her first husband as Jacques Guyet; her remarriage took place in February 1635. Later that year, a child named Ambroise was baptized at Notre-Dame-de-Vair, now part of Saint-Cosme-en-Vairais in the Sarthe area of western France. François followed in 1638, and a third child, Gabriel, appears in the family record.
Her son François eventually left for New France. Antoinette's own life ended in the parish: she was buried at Notre-Dame-de-Vair on November 24, 1669, with her husband and Gabriel present.
Her given name appears differently in a later Canadian record, where she is called Étiennette Boullay.
