Deacon John Stanton Noyes

Their story

Deacon John Stanton Noyes was born at Stonington, Connecticut, on 13 January 1685, the son of Rev. James Noyes and Dorothy Stanton Noyes.[1,3]

He worked as a farmer and served as a deacon in his father’s church. In 1714 he built the house near Westerly later known as the Moss House. He married Mary Gallup in 1715 and, in 1739, Elizabeth Whiting.[3]

The family history names William, John, James, Mary, Sarah, Anne and two sons called Joseph among the children of his marriage to Mary; Dorothy was born to the second marriage in 1740. John died on 17 September 1751.[3]
