The life of Michel Antiome / Anthiaume
Biography
Michel Anthiaume's death brought his family before the authorities in Paris, France. By July 1664 he was dead, and his widow, Marie Dubois, had brought proceedings against the abbé Dorion concerning that death. A guardianship record reserved 300 livres for the couple's two young daughters. It does not establish the circumstances of the death or the outcome of the prosecution.
Michel was described as a Paris bourgeois and an officer of the maréchaussée. The family was associated with Saint-Nicolas-des-Champs. His daughter Marguerite's later marriage record also preserved his official position, naming him as an exempt attached to the Grand Prévôt.
Marguerite eventually went to Canada and married André Jarret de Beauregard in Montréal, in present-day Québec, Canada, in 1676. Her father had died more than a decade before that marriage. The Canadian record carried his name and office into another setting, while the Paris guardianship preserves the immediate consequences of his death for Marie and Marguerite, the daughters he left behind.
