The life of Anne-Jeanne Tessier
Biography
Anne-Jeanne Tessier was baptized in Montréal, in present-day Québec, Canada, on May 7, 1692, the daughter of Paul Tessier and Jeanne Amiot. Also called Marie-Anne in the Gagné family association’s account, she married Louis-Étienne Gagné on May 27, 1715 at Pointe-Claire on Montréal Island. A marriage contract dated a month earlier is reported before Guillaume Barette dit Courville and appears in the genealogical society's notarial catalogue.
Their children included Paul, Pierre, Louis, Marie-Josèphe, Marie-Anne, Catherine-Charlotte, Véronique and Marguerite. Catherine-Charlotte later married Jean-Baptiste Poissant, linking Anne-Jeanne's family with the Poissants of La Prairie. The children listed span the years from 1716 to 1730.
Louis-Étienne died in 1740. The family chronology places Anne-Jeanne’s death at La Prairie on January 3, 1750, nearly a decade after her husband’s.
