Biography
William Chesebrough was born in England in 1594. The family history places his marriage to Anna Stevenson at St. Botolph’s Church, Boston, Lincolnshire, on 15 December 1620, before their migration to Massachusetts aboard the Arbella in 1630.[3]
He became a freeman of Massachusetts in 1631 and held local offices in Boston. He later lived at Braintree and Rehoboth, then settled at Wequetequock in 1649, in the area that became Stonington, Connecticut. He represented the community in Connecticut’s legislature during the 1650s.[3]
His children included Nathaniel Chesebrough Sr. William died at Wequetequock on 9 June 1667.[1,3]
