The life of Marie-Francoise Jolivet
Biography
Marie-Françoise Jolivet was born on October 3, 1699 at L'Ancienne-Lorette, near Québec city in present-day Québec, Canada, the daughter of Aimé Jolivet dit Mitron and Anne-Marie Fiset. She lost both parents while still a child. A published transcription of an Hôtel-Dieu entry reports her father's death on May 7, 1711, while a separate compiled reference identifies her mother's burial at L'Ancienne-Lorette that same day. Marie-Françoise was eleven.
On May 19, 1723, she married Jean-Philippe Lamarre in Montréal. He had children from an earlier marriage to Jeanne St-Aubin. Marie-Françoise's own children included Paul, Marie-Geneviève, Michel, Joseph-Marie and Charles, with younger children following.
The family record follows births over nearly two decades and places Marie-Françoise's death at La Prairie on May 10, 1752, with burial the next day. She was fifty-two.
