Biography

George Soule was born between about 1595 and 1602. He sailed to Plymouth on the Mayflower in 1620 as Edward Winslow’s indentured servant and signed the Mayflower Compact.[3]

About 1625–1626 he married Mary / Marie Bucket Soule, identified in the museum account as Mary Beckett, who had arrived on the Anne in 1623. They raised nine children, including Patience Soule, and settled at Duxbury, Massachusetts.[1,3]

Soule served on juries, helped survey land and represented his town in the colonial court. In 1653 he bound their ten-year-old daughter Mary to seven years of service in John Winslow’s household.[3]

He died at Duxbury after 20 September 1677 and before 22 January 1680.[4] His estate included a house, barn, orchard, bedding, a gun and books.[3]
