The life of Nicolas-Antoine Boyer

Biography

By 1702 Nicolas-Antoine Boyer owned a property four arpents wide on Montréal’s côte des Argoulets, a named settlement area on Montréal Island in present-day Québec, Canada. A reconstruction of the early land records identifies it as the combined parcels 526D and 527D and explicitly names him as the son of Nicolas Boyer and Marguerite Maclin.

Nicolas-Antoine had been born and baptized in Montréal on February 23, 1679. His marriage to Marie-Louise Payet dite Saint-Amour took place at Pointe-aux-Trembles on June 2, 1704, two years after the property description.

Their daughter Madeleine was born in December 1719. The family compilations disagree on the number and dates of the couple’s children.

Nicolas-Antoine’s later years included the deaths of both Madeleine and his wife in January 1757. He died in Montréal on March 31, 1759, aged eighty, and was buried on April 2.

The burial listing places Nicolas-Antoine Boyer at Cimetière Notre-Dame (1672-1830), Montréal, Montréal Region, Québec, Canada.
