Biography

Marie-Catherine Olivier, also recorded as Perrier, was born at La Prairie, across the St. Lawrence from Montréal in present-day Québec, Canada, on November 13, 1719 and baptized the next day. Her parents were Jean Perrier and Catherine Jousset. She first married François Dumont, also known as Laviolette, at La Prairie on February 6, 1741. A published family sheet identifies a marriage contract two days before the church ceremony.

Their daughters Catherine and Marie-Madeleine were born in 1741 and 1743. François died in January 1750. Two years later, Marie-Catherine married Louis Jarret dit Beauregard at Saint-Constant.

Her second widowhood began in December 1761, when Louis died. She was forty-two. Marie-Madeleine married Thomas-Amable Lamarre in 1764, and Antoine Jarret married Marie-Anne Lamarre in 1787. Marie-Catherine lived to eighty-three, dying at Saint-Philippe on August 18, 1803. Her burial took place there on August 20, more than sixty-two years after her first wedding.
