The life of Michel Lamarre
Biography
Michel Lamarre was born on December 28, 1726 at Pointe-aux-Trembles, on Montréal Island in present-day Québec, Canada, to Jean-Philippe Lamarre and Marie-Françoise Jolivet. He belonged to Jean-Philippe's second family, a distinction that separates him from the children of Jeanne St-Aubin. His own marriage took place at Saint-Constant on May 31, 1756, when he married Marie-Anne Monet.
Their household grew over two decades. The eldest listed child, another Michel, was born in 1757; Marie-Angélique followed in 1777. Between them were Marie-Anne, Josephte, Ignace, Jean-Baptiste and others. The family also lost three sons as infants: Joseph, François and François-Régis.
Michel lived long enough to see several adult children marry. His daughter Marie-Anne married Antoine Jarret in 1787, and other marriages connected the family with LeGrand, Perrier, Paquet and Circé households. Michel died on May 17, 1793, aged sixty-six. The more specific compilation places the event at Saint-Philippe; another uses the broader La Prairie designation.
