The life of Louis Bouchard
Biography
Louis Bouchard belonged to a family in La Prairie, across the St. Lawrence from Montréal in present-day Québec, Canada, in which the name Louis passed from father to son. Born on February 19, 1718, he was the son of Louis Bouchard and Suzanne Lefebvre. The distinction between these two men matters: this Louis was the father of Véronique Bouchard, whose marriage later joined the Bouchard and Poissant families.
His childhood included the loss of both parents. The compiled family record places his mother's death in October 1721, when he was three, and his father's in November 1727, when he was nine. Nearly a quarter-century later, on February 15, 1751, he married Marie-Josephte Boyer in Montréal, four days before his thirty-third birthday.
Their children included another Louis, Josephte, Louise-Amable, Véronique, Marguerite and Ignace. Through their marriages, the family became connected with the Longtin, Lamarque, Barbeau, Poissant and Campeau families. This is a list of children with recorded marriages, rather than a complete count of all births. Louis’s death date is unknown.
