Pierre-Chrysologue Deblois

Biography

Pierre-Chrysologue Deblois married Angélique Giguère at Sainte-Famille on the Île d’Orléans, an island in the St. Lawrence just downstream from Québec city in Canada, on February 7, 1780. The compiled family identifies his parents as Pierre Deblois and Marie-Catherine Létourneau. His marriage began in the island parish, while later family records lead westward to the community now called Louiseville, near Lake Saint-Pierre.

The children associated with the couple include Marie, Angèle, Marguerite, Marie-Louise and Madeleine. A son Pierre was born in January 1791 and died in June, still an infant. Their daughter Marie-Louise married Charles Bergeron at Louiseville in 1801, providing a firm later connection between the Deblois household and that community.

Pierre-Chrysologue’s death is reported at Louiseville on March 11, 1820. Angélique survived him for another twenty years and died at Pointe-du-Lac. These records give the family a geographical outline from the Île d’Orléans to the communities around Lake Saint-Pierre, although the date and circumstances of the move have not been established.
