The life of James Tiffany Jr.

Biography

James Tiffany Jr belonged to the Attleborough generation of a family whose history was closely tied to a long-held homestead. A nineteenth-century account of the Tiffany family describes him as living on the Tiffany farm; the later family genealogy follows the household through his marriage and the children born in Attleborough.

James married Elizabeth Allen on November 11, 1725. Their recorded children were Bethiah, Elizabeth, James, Ebenezer, Gideon, Daniel, and Benjamin. The family genealogy supplies a sequence of births extending from the late 1720s into the early 1740s, showing a household that grew over many years.

One son, Ebenezer, remained on the Attleborough homestead.

James died in October 1776. The published Attleborough vital records give the month but no day and report his age as seventy-nine. Elizabeth survived him for nearly twenty years, dying in August 1796.

The burial listing places James Tiffany Jr. at Hillside Cemetery, Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States.
