Biography
John Wicks captained a ship he owned and traded in the West Indies with Comfort and Constant Sands. A 1912 Oneida County history recounts his survival after a shipwreck and a period on an island. In 1800, he moved to Paris Hill, New York, and bought a farm of several hundred acres.
