The life of Jeremiah Eaton
Biography
Jeremiah Eaton’s surviving family record is concentrated in a brief period at Temple, in western Maine near Farmington. He married Mary Noyes, daughter of Isaac Chamberlain Noyes and Mary Gibbs. Their daughter Mary Blackwell, later Mary Blackwell Eaton Russell, was born on June 1, 1826, an entry preserved in the town-record transcription.
Jeremiah died on November 28 of the same year. His daughter was five months old, approaching six months, and his wife was seventeen. The paired birth and death entries establish those circumstances directly.
The chronology places Jeremiah’s birth in 1789. On that reckoning he was about thirty-seven when he died.
The working family reconstruction names Jeremiah’s parents as William Eaton and Abigail Littlefield.
