The life of Tristram Barnard Sr.
Biography
Tristram Barnard and his wife Ruth raised their family at Amesbury, in northeastern Massachusetts near the New Hampshire border, in the early eighteenth century. The published family account records daughters Judith, Rachel, Dinah and Miriam, followed by a younger Tristram.
The household lost Rachel on May 31, 1711. Amesbury's death record identifies her specifically as the daughter of Trestrem and Ruth. The family later gave the name Rachel to another daughter, a repetition preserved in the compiled household list.
Tristram's son, born in 1721, would form his own household at Amesbury. The family chronology places the elder Tristram’s death in 1759.
A published Plymouth, New Hampshire, genealogy identifies Tristram as a son of Thomas Barnard.
The family reconstruction calls his wife Ruth Martin; the maiden surname remains uncertain.
