The life of Tristram Barnard Jr.
Biography
Tristram Barnard was born at Amesbury, in northeastern Massachusetts near the New Hampshire border, in 1721, a son of Tristram and Ruth Barnard. He married Dorothy Currier there on December 14, 1743. The following year Dorothy appeared in her grandfather Richard Currier's will as the wife of Tristram Barnard Jr., a useful contemporary connection between the two families.
Their children included David, Isaac, John, Hannah, Edmund and a younger Tristram. The household remained associated with Amesbury for many years before moving to Weare, in inland southern New Hampshire, late in the parents' lives. The memorial dates the move to 1792.
Tristram died on September 19, 1807. Amesbury's published death records identify him through his parents, Tristram and Ruth, while his memorial places his burial at East Weare. Dorothy survived him; Weare's history records her death in August 1817. Their lives thus extended from an Amesbury marriage in the colonial period to old age among family in New Hampshire.
