21. Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848–1933)
Louis trained as a painter before turning to decorative arts. He experimented extensively with opalescent glass and built a large design enterprise whose windows and lamps became synonymous with American Art Nouveau. He later served as Tiffany & Co.’s first design director and created Laurelton Hall as a personal artistic environment.
