01BIOGRAPHY
Life in context.
73. Mary Elizabeth “Libbie” Carpenter Stevens Wicks (1894–20th century)
Libbie was born 18 October 1894 in Providence. Her first husband, Henry L. Stevens, was reported killed in aviation service in France in 1918. She married John Doane Wicks in 1920 and became mother of five children, including Madison’s ancestor Marjorie. Her second husband later died in the 1949 Washington mid-air collision. Her life therefore intersects both World War I aviation and the hazardous early commercial-aviation era.
Evidence status. Direct relationship strongly supported by the published Doane genealogy.
